Cassandra Database Administrator/DBA (Cassandra DBA Cloud Migration Focus)

Summary: The Cassandra Database Administrator (Cassandra DBA) role focuses on managing and migrating Cassandra workloads from on-premises to Azure Cloud. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in production environments and a strong understanding of both operational and cloud migration aspects of databases. This position is remote and open to candidates anywhere in the U.S. The role requires hands-on management of Cassandra clusters and collaboration with DevOps teams for successful deployment and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor Cassandra clusters in a large, production environment (not just PoC setup).
• Support and lead on-prem to Azure cloud migration (lift & shift, performance tuning as required).
• Ensure data consistency, reliability, disaster recovery, and secure database operations.
• Perform ongoing DBA maintenance, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with DevOps and cloud teams to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring.
• Work with DSE Solr when required on integration/queries.

Key Skills:

• Proven Cassandra DBA experience in large, real production environments.
• Hands-on experience with on-prem to cloud database migrations (preferably Azure).
• Strong understanding of Cassandra monitoring, tuning, backup, and recovery techniques.
• Familiarity with cloud monitoring and DevOps tooling in Azure.
