Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CA Vision to COBOL Migration Consultant to support a legacy application modernization initiative.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience migrating applications developed in CA Vision to COBOL, along with strong IBM mainframe expertise.
The consultant will participate in technical discussions with the client, analyze existing applications, recommend migration strategies, and support implementation.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe technologies.
- Strong hands-on experience with CA Vision application development and maintenance.
- Proven experience in CA Vision to COBOL migration projects.
- Strong programming skills in COBOL.
- Experience with JCL, VSAM, CICS, DB2, and TSO/ISPF.
- Experience analyzing legacy applications and documenting business logic.
- Knowledge of software modernization and migration methodologies.
- Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to participate in client technical meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale legacy modernization projects.
- Knowledge of IBM z/OS environments.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Previous client-facing consulting experience.
- Candidates located in the United States or Canada are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing CA Vision applications and architecture.
- Design and execute migration from CA Vision to COBOL.
- Convert business logic while maintaining functional equivalence.
- Develop and unit test migrated COBOL programs.
- Work closely with application teams, business stakeholders, and client technical teams.
- Participate in technical workshops and solution discussions.
- Support system testing, integration testing, and production implementation.
- Create technical documentation and migration artifacts.
- Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize application performance.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Endevor, Changeman, or other source control tools.
- Experience with IBM utilities and batch processing.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices for mainframe applications.
