Business Process Engineer (Build a Product Operating Model)- (Not looking for a Strategy or Advisory Consultant)

Posted 1 day ago by Libsys, Inc.

Work Location: Remote

Work Hours: Must work in the PST Time Zone

What This Role Is NOT

  • We are not looking for someone to come in and teach Lean, Six Sigma, or Value Stream Mapping methodology.
  • We are also not looking for a consultant who primarily provides recommendations or creates executive-level strategy presentations.
  • We need someone who is comfortable being hands-on and doing the work — gathering information, facilitating the right conversations, sitting at the keyboard, building the workflows, documenting decisions, and helping teams get to a usable future-state process.

Responsibilites

  • Lead working sessions with business and technology stakeholders to understand current and future-state processes.
  • Ask probing questions to uncover how work actually moves through the organization, including decision points, handoffs, dependencies, exceptions, and pain points.
  • Translate conversations and working sessions into detailed end-to-end process maps and workflows.
  • Build and maintain process documentation using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, PowerPoint, or similar tools.
  • Define decision rights, roles, responsibilities, inputs, outputs, controls, and handoffs within each process.
  • Develop decision trees, swimlane diagrams, RACIs, workflow diagrams, and supporting process documentation.
  • Partner with Product, Portfolio, Technology, Finance, Risk, Operations, and other teams to ensure processes work across organizational boundaries.
  • Identify gaps, overlaps, unclear ownership, and process breakdowns and help teams work through practical solutions.
  • Facilitate conversations when stakeholders have different perspectives on how a process should work.
  • Iterate process designs based on stakeholder feedback and lessons learned as the Product Operating Model is implemented.
  • Help create a consistent set of playbooks, standards, and process artifacts that teams can use going forward.
  • Support development of workflows such as:
  • Work intake and disposition
  • Product and portfolio planning
  • Prioritization and decision-making
  • Capacity and funding
  • Governance and escalation
  • Dependency management
  • Epic/work flow through persistent product teams
  • Risk, compliance, and control integration
  • Roles and decision rights
  • Product/team lifecycle processes
