Summary: The Business Data Analyst role is a remote position focused on analyzing and documenting business rules and data needs within the healthcare industry. The analyst will collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to ensure data solutions meet business requirements and comply with audit standards. Key responsibilities include data mastering, cloud technology utilization, and leading discussions to refine data solutions. The role requires a strong understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and documentation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, analyzes, and creates detailed documentation of business rules and data needs.
  • Coordinates discussions with business/stakeholders and cross functional/technical teams to capture and review use cases, requirements, and other technical documents to ensure all business requirements are accurately reflected and accounted for (including data lineage and transformations).
  • Collaborates with developers and architects to define and document the data solution to meet needs outlined in the business rules and needs.
  • Responsible for obtaining business/stakeholder approval, which passes audit scrutiny, for data solutions delivered in a production state.
  • Documents data ingestion, transformation, and consumption including workflows, data models, data classification, and steps required to curate trusted data.
  • Responsible for ensuring all documentation reflects the current state and outstanding issues so that business requirements reflect proper state of data.
  • Support the cloud data framework that aligns with the Enterprise Data Strategy, policies, and organizational goals.
  • Ensures that the delivered data and processes fulfill the documented business rules and data needs.
  • Ensure that all items follow company change management process.
  • Leads backlog grooming, refinement, and planning meetings.
  • Presents documentation of business rules, data needs, technical documentation, and data models.
  • Ensures that all assigned projects meet compliance and can withstand audit scrutiny.
  • Peer Reviews documentation of business rules, data needs, technical documentation, and data models.
  • Create data models based on the data solution decisions and conceptual models in collaboration with the data architect and developer.
  • Leads decisions and discussions with business/stakeholders and cross functional/technical team collaboration.
  • Own data model decision and design in collaboration with the data architect and developer.
  • Provides guidance in QA work when requested so the appropriate level of testing is planned and executed.
  • Maintains a calm and composed demeanor and brings disparate viewpoints to a place of mutual understanding through skilled negotiation and diplomacy.
  • Maintains a neutral viewpoint when collaborating with customers yet understands when their SME-level knowledge is appropriate to interject into the conversation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Skills:

  • Requires 5-8 years of relevant technical or business work experience with demonstrated experience within healthcare industry or data and analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare administration, mathematics, or a related field or comparable experience. Additional years of qualifying work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Advanced data query skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Azure Data tools and Snowflake Technologies.
  • Competent in Mastering and Surviving Data in Profisee MDM.
  • Experience gathering business rules and requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders in an official approval process as part of a development life cycle.
  • Background and experience in Data Analysis, Data Profiling, Data Transformation and Data Reporting.
  • Experience problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of CI/CD Pipelines

  • Agile Need to be able to create stories, lead refinement, etc., utilizing ADO Board
  • Data Mastering understand mastering and survivorship, data stewardship, integration with source systems
  • Cloud technologies understand Profisee, Snowflake, Azure, and ADF from an analyst perspective
  • Health care knowledge Needs to understand Member, Eligibility, and Claims
  • Handle unknowns Given a portion of the necessary information, collaborate and communicate to obtain and document the rest of the story.
  • Coordinate with Architects and Developers to ensure information is transferred correctly and the technical design meets the requirements gathered.
  • Prior Data Lake is a plus A basic understanding of multiple zones that include raw data, cleansed data, and transformed data.
