Summary: The role of Business Analyst focuses on leading the validation of an in-house Origination Pricing Calculator, requiring the creation of business, functional, and regulatory requirements. The analyst will assess key pricing components and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance and accuracy in calculations. This position is remote with occasional travel to South Wales and is classified as inside IR35. The contract duration is expected to be three months or longer, with a daily rate between £500 and £540 depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of business, functional, and regulatory requirements for the independent validation of the in-house Origination Pricing Calculator.
  • Define expected calculation behaviours across finance products such as lease, hire purchase and loan, including APR, IRR, flat rate, margin, NPV, cost of funds, payment amount, balloon/residual, subsidy, commission, and fees.
  • Interpret applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards, including requirements relating to customer pricing, APR disclosures, auditability, transparency, and calculation consistency.
  • Identify key business scenarios, edge cases, and boundary conditions to be tested, including different repayment frequencies, structured payment profiles, deposits, fees, balloon values, subsidies, commissions, tax/VAT treatment.
  • Create the expected results framework, including calculation rules, tolerances, rounding approach and benchmark comparison.
  • Work with client, CGI testing teams, and technical teams to clarify assumptions, confirm calculation interpretation and resolve requirement or logic gaps.
  • Produce clear and auditable requirements, assumptions, calculation rules, and traceability documentation to support independent assurance.
  • Define acceptance criteria and maintain traceability between requirements, expected outcomes, test scenarios, test results, and validation conclusions to support independent assurance.

Key Skills:

  • Strong asset finance, lending or regulated financial services domain experience.
  • Good understanding of pricing calculators, finance quotations, APR/IRR, amortisation, cashflows, interest rates and repayment structures.
  • Experience defining business, functional, and regulatory requirements.
  • Awareness of FCA regulated environments and compliance led validation.
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret complex calculation logic.
  • Ability to translate business and regulatory expectations into testable requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and documentation skills.

Looking for a Business Analyst who will lead the definition of the independent validation baseline for the in house Origination Pricing Calculator. This includes creating the business, functional and regulatory requirements, defining expected calculation outcomes, identifying applicable scenarios and tolerances, and confirming the validation approach to be used by the testing team.

The SME will assess the calculator across key pricing components such as payment amount, interest rates, APR/IRR, net advance, deposits, fees, commissions, subsidies, balloon/residual values, repayment profiles, settlement calculations and reporting outputs, which are typical components within asset finance pricing calculators.

Responsibilities

Definition of validation requirements:

  • Lead the creation of business, functional, and regulatory requirements for the independent validation of the in house Origination Pricing Calculator.

Calculation logic and methodology review:

  • Define expected calculation behaviours across finance products such as lease, hire purchase and loan, including APR, IRR, flat rate, margin, NPV, cost of funds, payment amount, balloon/residual, subsidy, commission, and fees.

Regulatory and industry alignment:

  • Interpret applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards, including requirements relating to customer pricing, APR disclosures, auditability, transparency, and calculation consistency.

Scenario and coverage definition:

  • Identify key business scenarios, edge cases, and boundary conditions to be tested, including different repayment frequencies, structured payment profiles, deposits, fees, balloon values, subsidies, commissions, tax/VAT treatment.

Expected outcome definition:

  • Create the expected results framework, including calculation rules, tolerances, rounding approach and benchmark comparison.

Stakeholder collaboration:

This temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices.
