Business Analyst

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with approximately 105 users of the legal case management product.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for users, creating an open and constructive environment for feedback.
  • Conduct interviews, workshops and fact-finding sessions to understand how customers use the product.
  • Investigate user challenges and identify the underlying business problem rather than simply recording requested solutions.
  • Understand legal workflows, terminology and operational processes.
  • Gather, analyse and document clear business and user requirements.
  • Map existing user journeys and business processes, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate complex customer feedback into structured requirements for product and engineering teams.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, developers and other internal teams to support roadmap and delivery decisions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure requirements remain traceable throughout the development process.
  • Support prioritisation discussions by providing clear evidence, customer insight and business context.
  • Champion the needs of legal users throughout the product development lifecycle.

Essential Experience

  • Strong Business Analysis experience within a software, technology or product-led environment.
  • Proven experience gathering and documenting business and user requirements.
  • Experience conducting customer interviews, workshops and discovery sessions.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to investigate ambiguous problems and establish the real underlying requirement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of empathy, curiosity and active listening.
  • Experience working with Product Managers and software engineering teams.
  • Strong process mapping and user journey mapping skills.
  • Ability to translate complex operational needs into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Confidence working with a broad user community and managing competing viewpoints.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with legal software or case management systems.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal workflows or legal operations.
  • Experience working with case management platforms.
  • Experience within legal technology, local government, regulatory or public-sector software.
  • Familiarity with complaints, investigations, Freedom of Information, subject access requests or other regulated casework processes.
