Business analyst

We are seeking a Business Analyst to support a cloud infrastructure and development team building a secure data-collaboration platform for a major aerospace and defense program. The Business Analyst will focus on understanding, documenting, and mapping business and system processes to enable the development team''s work.

Project Background

The client, a major aerospace and defense manufacturer, is developing a Collaborative Digital Environment (CDE) that allows external business partners to access authorized program data. The CDE is a key component of the U.S. Department of Defense''s digital acquisition strategy.

The objective is to mature, standardize, and scale the ability to collaborate in near-real-time with customers, partners, and suppliers using a suite of integrated models, data, and applications. This environment must provide security controls that comply with regulatory and contractual requirements, protect intellectual property, enable role-based privileges, and align with VAULTIS principles, making data Visible, Accessible, Understandable, Linked, Trustworthy, Interoperable, and Secure.

Key Responsibilities:
- Elicit, analyze, and document current-state and future-state business and system processes.
- Create and maintain process maps, workflows, and diagrams using Microsoft Visio or a similar diagramming tool (e.g., Lucidchart, Miro, draw.io).
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear, actionable requirements for the development team.
- Facilitate working sessions with stakeholders to capture requirements and validate process documentation.
- Maintain accurate, organized documentation throughout the engagement.
- Support requirements traceability across the development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio or a comparable diagramming/process-mapping tool.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), with strong Excel skills.
- Experience with Jira or a similar work-tracking tool and working in an Agile environment.
- Strong ability to understand, analyze, and document complex processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with AI prompt engineering.
- Familiarity with DoD digital acquisition, VAULTIS data principles, or secure cloud environments.
- Prior experience in an aerospace, defense, or other regulated/controlled environment.
