Summary: The role of Business Analyst involves supporting a high-profile public sector programme by leading the requirements lifecycle and ensuring clear communication between business users and delivery teams. This non-technical position requires strong experience in Application Development & Maintenance (ADM) and the ability to translate business needs into actionable outputs. The ideal candidate will thrive in complex environments and possess excellent stakeholder management skills. Occasional travel to Newcastle is required, with the role primarily being remote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end requirements lifecycle, from discovery through to documentation and sign-off
  • Elicit, analyse, and document business and functional requirements from a wide range of stakeholders
  • Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, and walkthroughs
  • Produce high-quality documentation including process maps, use cases, and business cases
  • Conduct impact analysis and gap analysis to support change and delivery decisions
  • Act as a key liaison between business users, delivery teams, and vendors
  • Support ADM teams by ensuring requirements are clear, prioritised, and aligned to delivery plans
  • Contribute to governance and assurance activities in line with public sector standards

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years UK residency (essential for BPSS clearance)
  • BPSS clearance (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within ADM environments
  • Strong working knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Extensive experience in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as: JIRA, IBM Rational DOORS, Visio
  • Public sector experience
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging at all levels
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts
