The Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in Government Digital Service (GDS) assessments to support a major public sector digital transformation programme.
This role will focus on helping multidisciplinary teams deliver services in line with the GOV.
UK Service Standard, supporting services through key delivery phases and preparing teams for successful GDS assessments.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience working within government environments and be able to demonstrate direct involvement in Alpha, Beta and Live service assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyse and document business and user requirements.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, Service Designers and Technical teams.
- Facilitate workshops with stakeholders across government departments.
- Create high-quality user stories, process maps and business requirements documentation.
- Ensure services align with GDS service standards and government best practice.
- Support teams through Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live phases.
- Identify risks, dependencies and opportunities for service improvement.
- Contribute to assessment preparation activities, evidence gathering and assurance processes.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and provide clear recommendations based on business needs.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within the UK Public Sector.
- Strong understanding of the GDS Service Standard.
- Experience supporting services through GDS Assessments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
- Strong requirements gathering and business process modelling experience.
- Experience working within Agile multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to produce clear and concise documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience within central government departments.
- Experience working on digital transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of accessibility, user-centred design and service design principles.
- Relevant certifications (BCS Business Analysis, Agile BA or equivalent).
