Summary: The Disaster Recovery Business Analyst plays a crucial role in analyzing the needs of various business areas within Republic Services, acting as a liaison between the business and IT departments. This position involves documenting and validating requests for enhancements to application processes, collaborating with IT and business teams to develop disaster recovery strategies, and ensuring effective implementation of disaster recovery plans. The analyst is responsible for coordinating recovery efforts, conducting testing, and maintaining documentation related to disaster recovery activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the process of obtaining functional requirements from applicable business stakeholders and subject matter experts utilizing elicitation techniques.
- Coordinate and facilitate interviews with application owners and infrastructure SMEs to identify and document the recovery processes that should be captured in Disaster Recovery (DR) run books.
- Review disaster recovery runbooks and recovery checklist for each application.
- Testing disaster recovery plans and making necessary revisions to ensure effectiveness.
- Coordinating recovery efforts after a disaster has occurred.
- Documenting all disaster recovery activities and creating detailed reports.
- Performs research and analysis for proposed projects to determine feasibility.
- Creates detailed documentation of user requirements and partners with the development team to document both functional and non-functional specifications.
- Supports quality assurance and control efforts using data analysis/profiling as part of pre- and post-implementation reviews.
- Provides support to functional and user acceptance testing groups throughout development life cycle.
- Responsible for status reporting, knowledge transfer and implementation plan as appropriate for the software solution being developed.
- Build and maintain relationships with software application vendors and implementation partners.
- Assist with DR Runbooks audit - review/update/approval.
- Perform all other Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery duties as assigned by the Republic Services Manager of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Program.
Key Skills:
- Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) for data analysis.
- Understanding of current recovery solutions, high availability architectures, SQL AlwaysON, Zerto, Storage Replication.
- Ability to interact with technical, non-technical, and management staff.
- Familiarity with IT Disaster recovery / Business Continuity Program life cycle and deliverables (e.g., risk assessments, continuity planning, third party risk assessment).
- Business Analysis or Project Management Professional certification.
- Professional certification CBCP, or similar.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a business or technical analysis role.
- 3+ years of hands-on IT Disaster Recovery experience.
- 5+ years of IT infrastructure operations experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Disaster Recovery Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing the needs of the various functional business areas within Republic Services and recommends system solutions or procedures. As a liaison between the business and IT department, the Disaster Recovery Business Analyst ensures that the scope of work requested to enhance or modify existing application processes are clearly documented, communicated, and validated. The Disaster Recovery Business Analyst works closely with the IT technical team and/or outside vendors to design, develop, document and test solutions that meet the business requirements.
Business Analyst - IT Disaster Recovery will collaborate with individuals across IT and Business to develop disaster recovery documents and implement strategies to enhance IT Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity Program.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
