BlackLine Systems Configuration & Optimization Consultant

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced BlackLine Systems Configuration & Optimization Consultant to support the continued enhancement, automation, and optimization of an existing BlackLine environment across U.

S. and Mexico finance operations.

The consultant will work closely with Finance, Accounting, Global Business Services (GBS), and IT stakeholders to assess current BlackLine configurations and processes, identify improvement opportunities, implement system enhancements, and reduce manual work.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on BlackLine administration and configuration experience, particularly in an existing production environment, along with a solid understanding of financial close and account reconciliation processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and optimize existing BlackLine configurations, workflows, rules, templates, and user processes.
• Configure user roles, permissions, approval workflows, and automation.
• Optimize BlackLine modules supporting:
• Account Reconciliation
• Transaction Matching
• Task Management
• Journal Entries
• Financial Close
• Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual finance and accounting processes.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, GBS, and IT teams to translate business requirements into BlackLine solutions.
• Troubleshoot configuration, workflow, integration, and access-related issues.
• Evaluate current-state processes and recommend BlackLine best practices and process improvements.
• Support system administration, configuration, testing, and deployment activities.
• Lead UAT, issue resolution, and configuration change implementation.
• Create configuration documentation, process guides, SOPs, and training materials.
• Conduct knowledge-transfer and training sessions for internal BlackLine users and system configurators.
• Establish measurable milestones and track progress against optimization objectives.
• Deliver measurable improvements in automation, controls, adoption, and financial close efficiency before year-end.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with BlackLine administration, configuration, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of financial close, account reconciliation, transaction matching, and general accounting processes.
• Experience configuring:
• BlackLine workflows
• Rules and templates
• User roles and permissions
• Approval structures
• Automation
• Experience supporting and optimizing an existing BlackLine implementation.
• Strong ability to analyze current processes and recommend practical system and process improvements.
• Experience working with Finance, Accounting, GBS, IT, and business stakeholders.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and provide guidance to internal BlackLine users who are not dedicated administrators.

Preferred Qualifications

• Spanish language proficiency — highly preferred due to collaboration with the Mexico-based business team.
• Experience supporting U.S. and Mexico/LATAM finance operations.
• Experience with BlackLine integrations and related financial systems.
• Previous experience delivering measurable BlackLine automation and optimization initiatives.
• Strong change-management and user-adoption experience.
