Summary: We're seeking a Mid Level Backend Engineer proficient in Python and GoLang to join a product squad focused on developing advanced financial systems for a global reinsurer. The role emphasizes collaboration with actuaries and stakeholders to design scalable data platforms and services in a cloud-native environment. Candidates should possess a product mindset and technical leadership skills to influence the technical vision and delivery. This position is fully remote and classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with actuaries and stakeholders to deliver Python-based financial models
- Building high-performance APIs and background services in Go
- Designing robust data pipelines and platforms on Azure (Databricks, Synapse)
- Working closely with Product Owners to translate requirements into scalable tech solutions
Key Skills:
- Python - 5 years, especially around data transformation & ETL
- Go (GoLang) - 2 years building APIs and background services
- Experience with data platforms (Databricks, Azure Synapse)
- Azure - At least 1 year building in Azure environments
- Proven technical leadership in cross-functional squads
- Understanding of financial systems or data

About the Role:
We're looking for a Mid Level Backend Engineer to join one of our high-performing product squads delivering cutting-edge financial systems for a global reinsurer in Bermuda.
You'll play a key role in designing and delivering scalable data platforms and services using Python and GoLang in a modern cloud-native environment.
This isn't just a coding role, we're looking for someone with a product mindset, pair with actuaries and analysts, and help shape the technical vision and delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborating with actuaries and stakeholders to deliver Python-based financial models
- Building high-performance APIs and background services in Go
- Designing robust data pipelines and platforms on Azure (Databricks, Synapse)
