Summary: The Backend Automation Tester will collaborate with the Technology team to develop and execute test plans and cases, ensuring that system requirements are met. This role requires a strong background in functional analysis and testing, along with experience in automation frameworks and defect tracking tools. The candidate will also be responsible for analyzing operational issues and providing updates to management. Effective communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Technology team on developing accurate and thorough test plans and test cases with pre-determined results, executing tests, and reviewing test data within scheduled dates.
- Analyze test and operational problems, report defects, and communicate issues through structured defect tracking processes.
- Provide weekly updates to management verbally and via written reports regarding potential problems and concerns.
- Develop and maintain business and technical knowledge through training, workshops, reading, and research.
- Maintain knowledge of testing tools and expand understanding of product benefits, corporate policies, and departmental goals and procedures.
- Review and analyze business and system requirements and specifications for programs and modules.
- Coordinate with customers to resolve issues, verify satisfaction, and obtain information to create test data.
- Participate in project work group meetings including peer reviews, walkthroughs, status meetings, and process improvement sessions.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5 years of experience in functional analysis and testing within the software development life cycle and testing methodology.
- In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in addition to the required work experience.
- Experience creating test plans, test cases, and test scenarios from scratch.
- Experience mapping requirements to test requirements, test plans, and test cases.
- Experience with at least two relational database management systems (e.g., DB2, Oracle, SQL).
- Experience with automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Java, Python).
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and tools.
- Experience with at least two defect tracking tools (e.g., HP ALM, Bugzilla) and one test management tool (e.g., HP ALM).
