Summary: The Azure Security Engineer role involves managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise-grade Azure environments with a focus on Azure VM administration, security governance, SQL Server support, automation, and operational monitoring. Key Responsibilities:
- Provision, configure, and manage Azure Virtual Machines (sizing, availability sets, scaling).
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
- Optimize compute resources for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Deploy and manage Azure services including Synapse, Disks, Storage Accounts, ADF, Fabric, and related services.
- Monitor performance, usage, availability, and perform capacity planning across environments.
- Perform installation, configuration, backup/restore, and performance tuning of SQL Server.
- Troubleshoot SQL workloads, linked servers, SSIS packages, and extended events.
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and T-SQL.
- Configure and enforce Azure security controls (NSGs, ASGs, JIT access, Azure Defender).
- Manage identity and access through Azure AD, RBAC, managed identities.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and audit requirements.
- Implement monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and diagnostic settings.
- Troubleshoot VM, storage, networking, and Azure service issues across production/non-production environments.
- Build and maintain automation using PowerShell or Azure CLI.
- Support Infrastructure as Code using ARM templates and Bicep.
- Work closely with application, network, and security teams to support cloud operations.
- Follow established processes, documentation standards, and operational playbooks.
