Summary: The Azure DevOps Engineer role involves developing and supporting Azure cloud-based applications, with a focus on the Microsoft Azure Data Platform. The position requires substantial personal responsibility and autonomy in addressing complex issues, alongside experience in CI/CD pipelines and agile environments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support Azure cloud-based applications.
  • Utilize Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.
  • Write and maintain Infrastructure and Configuration as Code using Terraform.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ideally in Gitlab CI.
  • Work in an agile DevOps environment with Continuous Integration & Deployment.
  • Support, guide, and develop engineers.
  • Take ownership of loosely defined work efforts and drive them to successful outcomes.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.
  • Knowledge of Kafka and Kafka Connect.
  • Experience with Infrastructure and Configuration as Code using Terraform.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux/Windows environments and scripting languages.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably in Gitlab CI.
  • Experience in agile (scrum/kanban) DevOps environments.
  • Ability to exercise personal responsibility and autonomy.

Must Have Experience with the below:

  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Data Lake
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and supporting Azure cloud-based applications.
  • It is highly desirable that they also have recent applied experience of Kafka and Kafka Connect
  • Demonstrable knowledge of writing and maintaining Infrastructure, and Configuration as Code using Terraform
  • Demonstrable experience of using Unix/Linux/Windows in a support and/or development environment including scripting languages and implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (ideally in Gitlab CI, though additional experience of Azure DevOps is a bonus)
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a software or platform engineering agile (scrum/kanban) DevOps environment with Continuous Integration & Deployment.
  • Experience of supporting, guiding, and developing engineers.

The role requires an experienced DevOps engineer to exercise substantial personal responsibility and autonomy with substantial discretion in identifying and responding to complex issues and assignments as they relate to primarily the Microsoft Azure Data Platform. In addition to work assignments, the candidate must be able to take ownership of potentially loosely defined work efforts and drive those efforts to successful outcomes eg. proof of concepts/capabilities, Test & Learn assignments
