Summary: The Azure DevOps Engineer role involves developing and supporting Azure cloud-based applications, with a focus on the Microsoft Azure Data Platform. The position requires substantial personal responsibility and autonomy, as well as experience in agile DevOps environments. Candidates should have expertise in Azure services and infrastructure as code, along with the ability to guide and develop engineering teams. Occasional visits to specific locations in England are required, although the role is primarily remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and support Azure cloud-based applications.
- Write and maintain Infrastructure and Configuration as Code using Terraform.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ideally in Gitlab CI.
- Work in an agile DevOps environment with Continuous Integration & Deployment.
- Support, guide, and develop engineering teams.
- Take ownership of loosely defined work efforts and drive them to successful outcomes.
- Exercise substantial personal responsibility and discretion in addressing complex issues.
Key Skills:
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.
- Applied experience with Kafka and Kafka Connect is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux/Windows environments and scripting languages.
- Experience in developing and supporting applications in a DevOps environment.
- Ability to work in agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

Demonstrable experience of developing and supporting Azure cloud-based applications.
Demonstrable knowledge of writing and maintaining Infrastructure, and Configuration as Code using Terraform
Demonstrable experience of using Unix/Linux/Windows in a support and/or development environment including scripting languages and implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (ideally in Gitlab CI, though additional experience of Azure DevOps is a bonus)
Demonstrable experience of working in a software or platform engineering agile (scrum/kanban) DevOps environment with Continuous Integration & Deployment.
Experience of supporting, guiding, and developing engineers.
The role requires an experienced DevOps engineer to exercise substantial personal responsibility and autonomy with substantial discretion in identifying and responding to complex issues and assignments as they relate to primarily the Microsoft Azure Data Platform.
In addition to work assignments, the candidate must be able to take ownership of potentially loosely defined work efforts and drive those efforts to successful outcomes eg. proof of concepts/capabilities, Test & Learn assignments
