Summary: The role of Contract Data Engineer involves joining a focused delivery team to execute a critical data migration project over a 6-week contract. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure, Databricks, and SQL, and will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines while ensuring data accuracy and integrity. This position is suited for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and can deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. Occasional travel to Manchester or Glasgow is required, but the role is primarily remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Join a focused delivery team to execute a business-critical data migration
- Build, optimise and maintain data pipelines using Azure and Databricks
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions that ensure data accuracy, integrity and security
- Deliver under tight deadlines with a strong focus on clean, reliable code and documentation
Key Skills:
- Advanced SQL skills for querying, modelling and migration tasks
- Ability to write production-quality Python for data engineering and automation
- Proven experience of data migration projects, ideally at enterprise scale
- Experience with Databricks and the wider Azure stack (Data Lake, Synapse, ADF)
- Solid understanding of data integration, transformation, and validation
