About the Role
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer supports the operation, maintenance, automation, and continued modernization of AWS and hybrid-cloud infrastructure supporting systems.
The engineer will work alongside senior infrastructure and security engineers to implement cloud changes, troubleshoot issues, maintain infrastructure-as-code, remediate vulnerabilities, monitor system health, and improve operational processes.
About the Candidate
- Support AWS infrastructure including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, load balancing, DNS, and related services.
- Implement infrastructure changes using established architecture, procedures, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Maintain and modify Terraform and/or CloudFormation configurations under guidance from senior engineers.
- Monitor cloud resources and investigate availability, performance, configuration, and security issues.
- Troubleshoot networking, operating system, application connectivity, permissions, DNS, and cloud-service issues.
- Support vulnerability remediation, patching, configuration compliance, and security-hardening activities.
- Assist with cloud migrations, modernization efforts, disaster recovery, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.
- Develop scripts and automation to reduce repetitive administrative work.
- Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, procedures, and change records.
- Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Work with senior engineers to learn cloud architecture, security, networking, automation, and operational best practices.
- Gradually assume ownership of cloud services and technical workstreams as experience develops.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems or relevant field and 1-3 years of practical experience in the field
- Ability to independently manage assigned work, document technical activities, communicate issues, and seek assistance when appropriate.
- Demonstrated self-initiative to build enterprise-like AWS systems and resources that align with well-architected frameworks
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, subnets, and firewalls/security groups, with the ability to apply systematic troubleshooting methods
- Basic understanding of infrastructure security concepts such as least privilege, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and security baselines.
- Hands-on experience building solutions with Cloudformation, Terraform, Python, or other tools
Beneficial Qualifications
- Cloud related certifications (Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, etc)
- Exposure to CIS Benchmarks, STIGs, or similar security and compliance frameworks
