Summary: We are looking for an experienced AWS Security Engineer to enhance and standardize cloud security practices for an enterprise customer following significant AWS expansion through acquisitions. The role involves collaborating with internal security and DevOps teams to assess and implement security enhancements across multiple AWS accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS security engineering and compliance frameworks. This position is fully remote and offers a contract rate of up to £425 per day, classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing AWS environments acquired through mergers and acquisitions for security posture and compliance.
  • Design and implement standardized security practices across multiple AWS accounts and organizational units.
  • Upgrade Legacy and non-compliant environments to align with current security frameworks (eg, CIS AWS Foundations, NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Establish and maintain IAM roles, policies, guardrails, and organizational units in AWS Organizations.
  • Implement and configure AWS-native security services such as:
    • AWS Security Hub
    • GuardDuty
    • Config
    • CloudTrail
    • Control Tower
    • Inspector
  • Create and maintain security baselines and playbooks for ongoing governance and incident response.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineering, compliance, and GRC teams to integrate security into DevOps workflows.
  • Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams for ongoing management.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in AWS Security Engineering across enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS Organizations and multi-account strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS-native security tools and services.
  • Expertise in IAM, security policies, and cloud governance.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (eg, CIS, NIST, ISO) and how they apply to cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation is a plus.

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced AWS Security Engineer to support our enterprise customer following a significant expansion of their AWS environment, primarily through acquisitions. This role will be pivotal in helping standardize and enhance cloud security practices across a growing multi-account AWS footprint.
