Summary: The AWS Security Architect role involves leading cloud security initiatives for a large-scale AWS transformation program. The position requires hands-on expertise in designing and implementing security measures across AWS environments, including IAM, encryption, and workload migration. This is a contract position with the potential for permanent employment, emphasizing a proactive approach to security architecture. The role is fully remote, catering to a dynamic and evolving cloud landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and embedding AWS security architecture (IAM, RBAC, SCPs, encryption, logging)
  • Building and securing AWS Landing Zones and multi-account environments
  • Implementing MFA, identity federation, Conditional Access (Entra ID)
  • Configuring CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Config, KMS
  • Supporting large migration programmes (200+ workloads)
  • Ensuring alignment to CIS benchmarks, public-sector security standards
  • Supporting hypercare, monitoring, alerting and incident triage

Key Skills:

  • Required Experience in a Lead Security Architect role for an AWS migration project (desirable)
  • Strong hands-on AWS security engineering background
  • Deep IAM / RBAC / SCP / AWS Organizations experience
  • Experience with MFA, Conditional Access, Entra AD federation
  • Knowledge of CIS, compliance, encryption, KMS, RPO/RTO
  • Experience enabling GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, Config
  • Exposure to migration-scale security validation

We’re supporting a large-scale AWS transformation programme and are looking for an experienced AWS Security Architect to take ownership of cloud security across design, implementation, and migration. This is a hands-on role at the centre of a major AWS estate build, including Landing Zones, IAM design, security guardrails, and large-scale workload migration.

AWS Security Architect – Key Responsibilities
