Needs a highly experienced AWS/Python developer who still writes code every day. The client calls this a "cloud dev" role. Real developer background, not infrastructure or platform experience.
The team supports the client website and its application team. Work centers on moving applications from on-prem to AWS, writing new code in Python while the old code is in Java.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience (written requirement). In practice the client looks for 14+ years overall; a strong 10-year developer is occasionally hired.
- 10+ years working in the USA. Candidates should have worked here for years and years.
- Python: 5+ years, typically with an earlier Java background. The more Python the better.
- AWS: recent hands-on experience. Lambda is mandatory; candidates must have built with it. Step Functions also expected.
- Terraform and IaC, Kafka, API development, CloudWatch.
- System design knowledge and a strong foundation in cloud technologies (Python, Java, AWS, Lambda, Step Functions).
- AWS certification: Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional (listed under required qualifications in the client JD).
