Summary: The AWS Professional Software Engineer role focuses on hands-on contributions to enterprise migrations from VMware Cloud on AWS to AWS native architectures. The engineer will implement solutions that prioritize security, scalability, resiliency, and cost optimization under the guidance of senior architects. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining infrastructure as code and DevSecOps practices. The role is a 6+ month contract and is fully remote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and support AWS and VMC-based solutions throughout migration and modernization efforts.
  • Develop and enhance application and infrastructure components involved in VMC AWS native transformations using rehost, replatform, and refactor approaches.
  • Configure and support secure, scalable AWS networking and landing zone implementations aligned to AWS Well-Architected guidance and Control Tower patterns defined by architecture teams.
  • Contribute to large-scale migration execution, including wave implementation, testing, deployment, and stabilization activities.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, automation scripts, and monitoring/operations tooling to support DevSecOps practices and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, estimate work, and deliver high-quality solutions; provide technical knowledge sharing within the team.

Key Skills:

  • 4-7 years of professional software engineering and/or cloud engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS core services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC).
  • Experience working with VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC) or similar virtualization/cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals, networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups), and cost-aware design.
  • Practical experience with one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, TypeScript) and IaC tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices (e.g., Git-based workflows, automated testing, security scanning).
