Summary: The AWS Cloud Developer (Lift-&-Shift) role is focused on a lift-and-shift project involving Java microservices that have not yet been migrated to the cloud. The position requires extensive AWS Cloud development experience and a strong back-end focus, with responsibilities including full lifecycle development and production support. The successful candidate will work remotely but must be able to travel to the client headquarters in Dallas as needed. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on backend services for a lift-and-shift project involving Java microservices.
  • Move existing services to an Integration platform.
  • Support multiple commercial projects and fast-track timelines.
  • Engage in full lifecycle development and ongoing production support.
  • Educate new-to-AWS technologists in best practices.
  • Work independently with unclear requirements.

Key Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in back-end development.
  • Extensive AWS Cloud development experience.
  • Prior Java Backend Development/Microservices and Spring Boot.
  • Lambda/Python Serverless Development.
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) background using Terraform.
  • Understanding of API specs and design principles.
  • Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, API Gateway, and Step Functions.
  • Experience with Kafka and automation using Python and Pytest.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, DocumentDB).
  • ETL building experience.
  • Proficiency in Git for source/version control.
  • Familiarity with build tooling (Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker).
  • Logging and monitoring in the cloud is a huge plus.
