Summary: The AWS Cloud Data Storage Engineer will collaborate with product engineering and cloud infrastructure teams to deliver and manage cloud-based database solutions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills to support and evolve AWS infrastructure. The position is fully remote and offers a contract outside of IR35. An immediate start is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to implement technical solutions, mechanisms, and procedures that help the business operate efficiently.
  • Design, build, and operationalize, and support highly available databases, NoSQL data stores, caching services, and messaging solutions that are secure, scalable, resilient, and performant in the AWS cloud.
  • Provision, configure and maintain AWS data services and infrastructure, using infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, et al).
  • Take initiative to identify and seize opportunities to eliminate waste, redundancy, and complexity.
  • Manage a queue of work requests to meet service level objectives and KPIs.
  • Execute incident, problem and change management processes and reporting as needed.

Key Skills:

  • 3+ years operating highly available PostgreSQL database clusters in the cloud, preferably on Amazon RDS or Amazon Aurora.
  • High level competency with containerization and deploying services to Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS.
  • Experience operating infrastructure deployments with Terraform, particularly as they related to databases and messaging systems.
  • Experience working with event streaming platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, and/or NATS.
  • Mastery of SQL.
  • Competency programming in Python. Experience with GoLang is a plus.
  • Strong understanding AWS security mechanisms, particularly as they relate to AWS data services like S3, RDS, Elasticache, MSK, Kinesis, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with GitHub, DataDog, and AWS.
  • Experience working with an on-shore/off-shore model.

The AWS Cloud Store Engineer will be working with the product engineering and cloud infrastructure teams, focusing on delivering, operating, and evolving cloud-based database, caching, and message brokering solutions.

The Engineer will also work closely with the corporate technology team to build, manage, automate, and support their cloud infrastructure in AWS.

The position demands someone who is detail-oriented, possesses high technical competency, and is driven to stay current with evolving technologies.
