AWS Cloud Consultant (Java/Python)

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Developer with a strong software engineering foundation and experience building modern, cloud-native applications on AWS.

The ideal candidate began their career in Java development and has progressed into AWS, Python, and serverless application development.

This role focuses on application development and cloud architecture, rather than traditional DevOps, infrastructure, or SRE responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS, with a focus on serverless architectures and event-driven solutions.
• Build production-grade AWS Lambda applications using Python, including integrations with APIs, services, and downstream systems.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs using Amazon API Gateway and integrate them with serverless and microservices-based applications.
• Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka, supporting reliable communication and processing across distributed applications.
• Define and manage cloud infrastructure through Terraform, applying Infrastructure as Code practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to system design and architecture, making decisions around scalability, reliability, integration patterns, and cloud-native technologies.
• Apply strong software engineering principles developed through a Java development background while working primarily with modern AWS and Python technologies.
• Partner with architects, engineering teams, and non-technical business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.

Required

• 15+ years of experience with a strong foundation in software development.
• Proven progression from Java development into AWS cloud/application development.
• Strong hands-on experience developing AWS Lambda applications with Python.
• Experience building and deploying serverless and cloud-native applications in production environments.
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Practical experience with API Gateway, Kafka, and REST APIs in distributed applications.
• Strong understanding of microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud application design.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• A stable employment history and demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-scale applications.

Preferred

• Experience working in the airline or transportation industry.
• Experience serving in an AWS Cloud Architecture capacity.
• Experience designing large-scale microservices and event-driven platforms.
