Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional testing across multiple programmes, including Integration Testing, System Testing, SIT, Exploratory Testing, and UAT.

- Utilize test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA and Zephyr.
- Test microservices and APIs using tools like Postman and REST Assured.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using programming languages such as TypeScript, Java, or Ruby.
- Implement automated testing frameworks within CI/CD environments.
- Coach and mentor team members in testing best practices.
Key Skills:

The Role:
A leading Government Institution is seeking an experienced Test Engineer/Functional Test Analyst with strong Integration Testing experience to undertake an initial 6-month contract.
This role is Inside IR35 and can be worked remotely.
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience as a Test Engineer or Test Analyst across multiple programmes, covering all functional test stages and test types including Integration Testing, System Testing, SIT, Exploratory Testing, and UAT.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Expert knowledge of software testing principles and methodologies, with experience working within Agile Scrum delivery environments.
- Hands-on experience using test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA and Zephyr.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and drive quality improvements.
- Experience testing microservices and APIs using tools such as Postman and REST Assured.
- Ability to work alongside Performance Test Engineers, reviewing performance test plans and interpreting performance test results and reports.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using modern programming languages such as TypeScript, Java, or Ruby.
- Strong experience with Playwright for automated functional, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks including Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber BDD, JUnit/TestNG, and Maven.
- Experience creating and maintaining automated testing frameworks within CI/CD environments.
- Hands-on experience with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, Travis CI, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate team members while promoting testing best practices.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working on large-scale Government, Public Sector, or highly regulated programmes.
- Knowledge of cloud-based environments and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience implementing test automation strategies and quality engineering practices across delivery teams.
