Automation Engineer (SCADA/EC&I) - Johannesburg, South Africa - 3-6 months+

For a large client in the Data Centre industry we are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer (SCADA/EC&I) for a 3 month+ contract in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The role will required you to travel to South Africa every week for the initial 3 months (all travel expenses covered and enhanced rate if located in Europe for initial period) and then you will be able to work remotely thereafter with occasional travel.

The Role

• You will support program management for automation related workstreams
  
• Support and enable coordination for several projects from design through to go live
  
• Coordinate with teams across different time zones
  
• Help agree milestones for completion of various systems (MEP, IT, Construction), schedule testing phases for development and remediation projects
  
• Oversight on schedules and commissioning scripts for each general contractor, and OFCI supplier leading up to a coordinated program for testing of main OFCI equipment (L1 to L5).
  
• Identify long lead items, and see to their inclusion in the Master Project Schedule in coordination with Project Controls, Construction and Operations including all updates
  
• Assist to coordinate integration support schedules, allowing for sufficient time to program, test, and commission mission-critical control systems
  
• Ensure all Controls related design documents are tracked on Procore by the System Integrator
  
• Support process improvement and cost optimisation initiatives for BMS/Controls related activities during commissioning
  
• Be responsible for all project reporting and documentation related to the control and automation of equipment for each site
  

Your Skills

• Strong project management experience and qualifications
  
• Data centre experience preferred
  
• Experience in mission critical/highly regulated environments is preferred
  
• Understanding of automated reporting and visualisation of data through Power BI
  
• SCADA platform experience, Ignition preferred
