Summary: The Assistant Finance Business Partner role involves providing expert financial support to a public sector organization during a period of change. The position requires collaboration with senior management and the delivery of effective financial services while ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. The candidate will be responsible for managing financial information and advising on financial issues affecting local government finance. This is an interim position based in London with remote working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the provision of effective financial services within a service or resources department in accordance with the Business Plan and Financial Scheme of Delegation.
  • Provide expert advice and support on financial issues to the council, its committees, members, and senior management.
  • Assist in presenting financial information to council departments and external partners.
  • Support compliance with the council's regulatory framework and advise on departmental changes.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial information and the production of statutory accounts.
  • Support the Senior Finance Business Partner in delivering financial services and improving value for money from suppliers.
  • Implement sound financial management systems and procedures aligned with the council's values.
  • Promote the council's risk management and anti-fraud strategies.
  • Contribute to council initiatives for continuous improvement and set targets for finance functions.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with post qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Recent experience in the Local Authority sector.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail and commitment to deadlines.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to generate workable solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload while overseeing program objectives.
  • Experience in stakeholder management on complex programs with credibility among peers and leaders.

Salary (Rate): £400.00
