Summary: The AS400 Synon Application Support Engineer is responsible for providing L2/L3 production support for AS400-based applications, focusing on incident analysis, bug fixes, and system performance monitoring. The role requires strong technical skills in COBOL, RPG, and DB2/400, along with experience in application maintenance and production support. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to change management processes are essential components of the position. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide L2/L3 production support for AS400-based applications.
  • Perform incident analysis, root cause identification, and resolution.
  • Work on bug fixes, minor enhancements, and code deployments.
  • Monitor batch jobs, interfaces, and system performance.
  • Support data corrections and production issue troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business, QA, DevOps).
  • Ensure adherence to change management and release processes.
  • Handle on-call support and critical production issues.
  • Maintain documentation, knowledge base, and support runbooks.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and system stability initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, RPG (RPG III / RPG IV), CLLE.
