Architect II AWS Cloud & Modernization

Summary: Hands-on AWS Architect responsible for leading enterprise migrations from VMware Cloud on AWS to AWS-native architectures. The role emphasizes end-to-end architectural leadership with a focus on security, scalability, resiliency, and cost optimization. The position requires extensive experience in AWS and VMC, along with strong leadership and communication skills. This is a contract role lasting over six months, with a remote working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and govern AWS and VMC architectures from migration through modernization.
• Lead VMC to AWS-native transformations using rehost, replatform, and refactor strategies.
• Design secure, scalable AWS networking and landing zones aligned to AWS Well-Architected and Control Tower.
• Guide large-scale migrations, wave planning, and modernization roadmaps.
• Promote DevSecOps, IaC, automation, and operational excellence.
• Serve as trusted advisor to stakeholders; mentor architects and engineers.

Key Skills:

• 10+ years in architecture/senior engineering; 5+ years with AWS.
• Strong experience with VMC, core AWS services, security, networking, and cost optimization.
• Proven leadership of enterprise VMC to AWS programs; strong executive communication.
• AWS Solutions Architect - Professional; AWS Networking/Security Specialty preferred.
• Experience modernizing off VMC in complex or regulated environments preferred.
