Summary: The role of Application Engineer involves supporting a remote Field Application Engineering (FAE) team and cross-functional teams in preparing and testing features in a lab environment. The candidate will develop setups for customer demonstrations and trials, troubleshoot technical issues, and manage logistics and inventory. Additionally, the role requires the development of automation tools to facilitate smooth execution of demos and trials. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist remote FAE team and cross-functional teams in lab setups and testing.
  • Develop, build, and test setups for customer demos and trials.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues in the lab.
  • Manage inventory, logistics, schedules, shipping/receiving, IP addresses, and software versions.
  • Support customer demos, lab trials, field trials, and early deployments in labs and partner labs.
  • Develop automation tools and write scripts for customer demos and trials.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Optical Communication.
  • 3 years of experience with a BS or 1 year with an MS in the optical network industry, preferably in optical transceivers.
  • Good knowledge of coherent optical networks.
  • Knowledge of transceivers/pluggable is a plus.
  • Proficiency in L2 and L3 routers and switches.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming language.
  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Java, MATLAB, VB.net, C#, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with SSH, Telnet, API-based automation, testing, and tools.
  • Hands-on experience in a lab environment with hardware setups.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments is a plus.
  • Experience with test plan creation and execution for optical system trials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
