Summary: The Senior Android Engineer role is a fully remote, six-month contract position focused on enhancing user safety and trust within a global consumer technology company. The engineer will design and deliver Android features that prioritize Trust & Safety, requiring strong technical judgment and ownership. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality Android experiences supporting Trust & Safety initiatives
  • Own features end-to-end, from early problem definition through implementation, release, and iteration
  • Translate ambiguous or sensitive requirements into clear, reliable technical solutions
  • Collaborate closely with backend, product, design, data, and Trust & Safety teams
  • Proactively identify risks, edge cases, and abuse vectors in safety-critical user flows
  • Raise standards for code quality, testing, performance, and accessibility across the Android codebase
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and best-practice sharing

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience building and shipping production Android applications, primarily using Kotlin
  • Familiarity with Java is beneficial but not essential
  • Senior-level ownership mindset with a focus on execution and measurable impact
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, high-stakes environments
  • Thoughtful approach to user-facing systems with privacy, safety, and inclusivity in mind
  • Clear communicator and collaborative teammate
  • Familiarity with Golang and/or Google Cloud Platform is a bonus
  • Experience collaborating closely with backend teams on API design and contract evolution

Senior Android Engineer 6 month contract initially, Outside IR35, Fully remote role (UK/Europe) A global consumer technology company places Trust & Safety at the core of its products, focusing on building kind, respectful, and empowering user experiences. They are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to help design and deliver features that protect users and enable safe interactions at scale. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong technical judgment, a high sense of ownership, and the ability to create clarity and momentum in complex, evolving problem spaces, particularly where user safety and trust are critical.
