Summary: Mercor is seeking experienced Accounting professionals to collaborate with a leading AI research lab, focusing on the development and evaluation of AI systems that mimic real-world accounting workflows. The role involves training and testing AI agents on complex accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, and providing feedback on AI-generated outputs. Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate AI-generated accounting outputs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Calibrate AI decision-making processes in tasks such as journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Simulate and audit workflows related to the financial close process, consolidations, tax filings, and internal controls.
- Provide domain-specific feedback on AI-generated financial statements, disclosures, audit working papers, and management reports.
- Collaborate asynchronously with product and AI teams to refine systems based on accounting best practices and real-world scenarios.
Key Skills:
- 2+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally at top-tier public accounting firms or within corporate accounting/finance departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
- A Master’s degree in Accounting or an MBA with an accounting concentration is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, or CMA are highly valued.
- Strong technical accounting proficiency, including deep knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, financial reporting, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in core accounting processes, such as month-end close, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, lease accounting, consolidations, and tax compliance.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex accounting concepts into clear, actionable guidance.

This role centers on contributing to the development and evaluation of advanced AI systems designed to replicate real-world accounting workflows across Corporate Accounting, Audit, Tax, and Financial Reporting. You’ll help train, test, and calibrate AI agents on complex accounting tasks derived from SEC filings, audits, month-end and year-end close processes, tax compliance, management reporting, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI-generated accounting outputs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Calibrate AI decision-making processes in tasks such as journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Compensation & Contract

- Performance Bonus: Top performers receive a weekly bonus incentive in the range of $20–$100/hr on top of their pay rate.
