Summary: COMPOST CREATIVE is seeking an experienced 3D artist proficient in modelling, sculpting, and texturing scientifically accurate organic materials for a documentary series. The role involves collaborating with the 3D team to create realistic 3D assets of organs and cells, with an initial contract of one month and potential for extension. Applicants must provide a portfolio showcasing their previous work and relevant software knowledge. Remote work is an option for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use both your creative/artistic and technical judgement to work on a variety of CGI shots, with a focus on creating photoreal assets of organs, cells, DNA, and similar
  • Work collaboratively with the Creative Director, Production, and Project Leads to develop the look and feel of the assets, keeping up clear daily lines of communication about your progress
  • Work to deadline and to a high standard of quality
  • Pitching in on 3D generalists tasks occasionally, when required

Key Skills:

  • Specific examples of photoreal 3D modelling/sculpting/texturing of organic materials
  • Production-based experience in Maya, Z-brush, Substance, VRay, 3D Max, Tyflow
  • Comfortable with both the creative and technical aspects of CG work
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of the VFX and animation pipeline
  • Good-level knowledge across multiple CG techniques including but not limited to: animation, modelling, texturing, lighting, matte painting, rendering
  • Comfortable with a wide range of software used to create high-quality CGI
  • Team-based creative and technical problem-solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines whilst maintaining a high-quality output
  • Programming or scripting skills (e.g. MEL, Python) are a big plus but not essential

Detailed Description From Employer:

COMPOST CREATIVE are on the look out for an experienced 3D artist with expertise in modelling, sculpting, and texturing scientifically accurate organic materials (e.g. organs, cells). The successful applicant will work full time alongside our 3D team, and assist in creating a range of scientifically accurate, realistic 3D assets of organs and cells, for a documentary series. Please see our portfolio for examples of our previous 3D work: www.compostcreative.com The applicant must include examples of their previous 3D work and outline their additional software knowledge to explain how they created this work. Experience and willingness to help with other areas of the CGI pipeline will be a bonus to the application. There will be the opportunity to help with animation and FX work. The initial post will be a 1 month contract with potential to continue. Start date is TBC but currently mid July/August is looking likely.
