Summary: The Release Engineer role at a leading automotive OEM involves overseeing the release of critical electrical systems across various vehicle programs. The position requires a proactive individual to manage electrical component release activities, ensuring compliance with technical documentation and performance standards. The engineer will collaborate with engineering teams and external test facilities to maintain accuracy and alignment with project milestones. This contract position is classified as inside IR35 and requires expertise in electrical documentation and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full ownership of the release process for electrical drawings and technical documentation including DFMEAs, SRSs, internal standards, test procedures, change requests, BOMs, and reports.
- Lead the creation and implementation of component test procedures in collaboration with external test facilities.
- Review and sign off test reports to ensure compliance and performance standards are met.
- Maintain and update the Electrical Bill of Materials (BOM) across multiple projects.
- Liaise continuously with engineering teams to ensure release documentation reflects the latest updates and part changes.
- Provide expertise and governance on the release process ensuring all technical data is accurate and aligned with project milestones.
- Ensure cost-implicating changes are clearly documented and presented to senior stakeholders (up to Director level).
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in electrical system/component release within the automotive or transport sector.
- Deep understanding of electrical documentation, test procedures, and DFMEA processes.
- Ability to manage complex BOMs and support multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence to interact at senior leadership level.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing updates and technical accuracy.
