Summary: The Recovery Practitioner role at a substance misuse charity in Merton involves assisting clients with their recovery journey, advocating for partnership services, and facilitating group sessions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting clients when they first join the programme and identifying the best course of action for their recovery
  • Minimising the harm that drugs and alcohol do to clients and the larger community
  • Acting as an advocate for partnership services
  • Assisting service users with their social (re)integration to encourage self-determination, resilience, and recovery
  • Facilitating group sessions to provide structured information at different phases of recovery

Key Skills:

  • Thorough awareness of substance misuse issues or previous experience in a related field
  • Solid working understanding of drug and alcohol services, interventions, and best practices
  • Capacity to manage change while prioritising the interests of service users
  • Recognition of the significance of information governance procedures and adherence to safety measures
