Reconciliation Accountant

  • Location: West London (Hybrid, 2-3 days on site)
  • Job Type: Full-time, Interim to end of December 2026
  • Day Rate: Circa £180-190 per day

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Reconciliations:
  • Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for all bank and short-term deposit related accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in account balances.
  • Liaise with processing teams on any differences, outstanding issues, or unusual balances.
  • Prepare and process correction journals as required.
  • Prepare monthly reports on bank and short-term deposit related accounts and variances identified.
  • General Ledger Maintenance:
  • Ensure interest and FX transactions are posted correctly.
  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and other accounting documents.
  • Compliance and Controls:
  • Keep all reconciliation procedural documentation up to date.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and financial regulations.
  • Support the Financial Accounting team during quarterly reviews.
  • Escalate any concerns around fraudulent transactions to management.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of internal controls and process improvements.
  • Project Work:
  • Support with bank and cash-related projects and grants investigation as requested by the Senior Financial Accountant.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant field (numerical degree preferred).
  • Qualified (AAT) or Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CCAB, ACA) or similar level of qualification.
  • Experience with bank and deposit accounts and in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficient in reconciling complex bank and short-term deposit accounts independently.
  • Detailed working knowledge of accounting software (ideally Oracle) and cash management systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks with limited supervision.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
