Summary: The role of Senior Rail Engineer involves providing engineering support for track renewal works on a light rail project in the West Midlands. The position requires strong rail and track experience, with responsibilities including setting out, track monitoring, and ensuring safety and compliance on site. The ideal candidate will have experience with Trimble GPS equipment and a solid understanding of track geometry. This is a contract position lasting 12 to 18 months, with a start date in mid-June to early July.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting out and engineering support for track renewals works
- Track stressing, ballast and tamping
- Track monitoring, including S&C and slab track (training can be provided where required)
- Ensuring accurate setting out using Trimble GPS equipment
- Completing and maintaining site inspection records
- Supporting delivery teams to ensure works are completed safely, on time and to specification
Key Skills:
- Experience with track renewals, stressing, setting out, ballast and tamping
- Competent using Trimble GPS equipment, including SPS930
- CSCS Card
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- Basic understanding of track geometry
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong work ethic, good timekeeping and a positive, team-focused attitude

Essential Requirements
- Experience with track renewals, stressing, setting out, ballast and tamping
- Competent using Trimble GPS equipment, including SPS930

Desirable (but not essential)
- In date Personal Track Safety (PTS)
- Appropriate qualification in either rail or civil engineering
