Summary: The role of Radiation Protection Advisor at AWE involves leading the delivery of radiation protection and dosimetry services, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of core radiation protection and dosimetry services within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Manage the day-to-day running of these services and ensure high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards for radiation protection and dosimetry practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert in radiation protection, health physics, or dosimetry.
- Maintain high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
- Develop and enhance capabilities within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Develop and maintain effective interfaces with stakeholders to improve service delivery.
Key Skills:
- Experience in defense and radiation policy, specifically GSP392 handbook of radiation for defense.

On behalf of AWE, we are looking for a Radiation Protection Advisor Inside IR35 for an 18 months contract based Hybrid with 2 days a week in Alverstoke and the rest from home

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
As a Radiation Protection Advisor, your main responsibilities will be:
- To lead the delivery of core radiation protection and dosimetry services within assigned areas of responsibility, manage the day-to-day running of these services and ensure that associated deliverables are completed to a high standard in terms of quality and efficiencies to ensure confidence from customers and efficient ways of working for the business.
- Ensure that AWE radiation protection and dosimetry practices are technically justified and meet the required technical and regulatory standards.
- Act as subject matter expert for an assigned scientific field of radiation protection, health physics or dosimetry.
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player
- Develop, improve and enhance capabilities assigned to their areas of responsibility.
- Develop and maintain effective interfaces with stakeholders, understanding their requirements and acting to improve the service for them where possible
Essential:
- Experience in policy in defence and radiation -GSP392 handbook of radiation for defence
- Experience in Training and delivering training
- RPA 2000 certificate
