Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the commercial aspects of projects from award through to final account.
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing valuations and applications for payment.
- Managing variations, compensation events and change control processes.
- Producing accurate CVRs, cost reports and forecasts.
- Procurement and management of subcontractor and supplier packages.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitoring project costs and ensuring profitability targets are achieved.
- Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
- Working closely with site teams and operational management to support successful project delivery.
- Attending site meetings and maintaining a visible presence on projects.
Key Skills:
- Previous experience working for a Groundworks or Civil Engineering Subcontractor.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial processes.
- Proven experience managing groundworks and infrastructure packages.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline (desirable).
- Experience working on residential infrastructure, roads and sewers, drainage, foundations and external works packages (desirable).
- Experience managing both client-facing and subcontractor relationships (desirable).

The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a highly successful and well-established Groundworks and Civil Engineering Contractor delivering projects across the Greater Manchester region.
With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth, the business is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can take ownership of projects and provide robust commercial management from procurement through to final account.
This is a predominantly site-based role, offering the opportunity to work closely with operational teams and play a key role in the successful delivery of multiple groundworks and infrastructure schemes.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of groundworks and civil engineering packages across a range of residential, commercial and infrastructure developments.
You will work closely with project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably and in line with contractual requirements.
