Quality Engineering Lead

The Opportunity

A major retail transformation programme is underway to design and deliver a new, modern eCommerce platform, enabling a significantly enhanced digital customer experience. This project replaces existing capabilities with an integrated, scalable solution spanning digital channels, order management, payments, fulfilment, and last-mile operations. The initiative aims to deliver improved operational efficiency, website/app performance, and superior customer outcomes across all online channels.

As a Quality Engineering Lead, you will lead a team of quality engineers through multi-disciplinary team planning and ecosystem integration to accelerate delivery and drive quality across the application life cycle. You will apply business and functional knowledge to develop end-to-end testing strategies using quality processes and methodologies. Your role includes defining and implementing key metrics to manage and assess the testing process, including test execution and defect resolution. You will serve as a subject matter expert, collaborate with and manage the team to perform effectively, take responsibility for team decisions, and engage across multiple teams to provide strategic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end testing strategies and champion the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies to maintain high standards of quality assurance.

• Ensure efficient use of the Playwright test automation framework, including leveraging agentic capabilities to accelerate delivery.

• Manage, mentor, and support team members to develop their skills, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and innovation.

• Define and implement key metrics to assess the testing process, analyze testing outcomes, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness across projects.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align quality objectives with business goals and technical requirements.

Skills & Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency is required in test automation, specifically with the Playwright framework.

• Advanced proficiency is highly recommended in test management to oversee the application life cycle effectively.

• Advanced proficiency in testing processes and quality improvement is suggested to drive continuous optimization.

• Experience within the Retail Industry is highly beneficial to understand the transformation goals.

• A proven ability to handle team decisions, engage with multiple stakeholders, and solve complex problems across teams is essential for this leadership role.
