Summary: The role of Quality Engineer involves overseeing and implementing quality assurance systems for a major highways infrastructure upgrade project in South West London. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement project quality assurance systems and ensure all site activities are carried out in line with ITPs and quality plans.
  • Work with Engineers and Sub-Agents to ensure accurate and timely completion of quality records.
  • Support the production and review of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), check sheets, and relevant quality documentation.
  • Ensure correct procedures are followed for materials approvals, sampling, and testing in accordance with specifications.
  • Assist with NCR management, ensuring non-conformities are raised, closed out, and reported appropriately.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with the quality management system and contract requirements.
  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure their works are aligned with project quality expectations.
  • Support audits, both internal and external, and assist in preparing the site for client or third-party visits.

Key Skills:

  • Experience working as a Quality Engineer on major civil engineering or highways projects.
  • Sound knowledge of ITPs, materials testing, and quality compliance procedures.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Previous work with Tier 1 contractors on infrastructure schemes preferred.
  • Competent with digital tools used in quality tracking and document management.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to liaise with engineers, managers, and QA teams.

CarmichaelUK are working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways infrastructure upgrade in South West London, and we’re looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer to join the team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK’s most respected delivery teams on a complex highways scheme involving earthworks, drainage, utilities, and road construction.
