Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications to define measurement methods.
- Create accurate Inspection Control Plans and translate them into SAP inspection structures.
- Determine correct measurement methods and identify necessary checking fixtures or metrology equipment.
- Validate inspection feasibility for critical characteristics and provide feedback to Design Engineers.
- Support inspection readiness for prototype, pre-production, and series production builds.
Key Skills:

We are looking for a technically strong Quality Engineer with deep experience in interpreting engineering drawings and building robust inspection processes. This is a specialist role focused on creating Inspection Control Plans (ICPs), defining metrology methods, and setting up inspection structures in SAP to support new product introduction and series production.
Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and specifications to define how each feature should be measured.
- Create accurate Inspection Control Plans and translate them into SAP inspection structures using: MM02 – Material setup & defining inspection requirements QP01/QP02 – Creating inspection plans & characteristics QDL1 – Defining sampling frequency
- Determine correct measurement methods (CMM, hand tools, gauges, fixtures, functional checks, etc.).
- Identify and specify checking fixtures, holding fixtures, or new metrology equipment where required.
- Validate inspection feasibility for CTQ, SC, CC and safety-critical characteristics.
- Provide feedback to Design Engineers to improve drawing clarity and measurement interpretation.
- Support inspection readiness for prototype, pre-production and series production builds.
Requirements
- Strong technical ability in reading drawings, interpreting GD&T and defining measurement strategy.
- Proven experience writing Inspection Control Plans or equivalent inspection documentation.
- SAP experience with MM02, QP01/QP02 and QDL1.
- Solid metrology knowledge and hands-on measurement experience (CMM or traditional metrology).
- Experience planning gauges, checking fixtures or bespoke inspection tooling.
- Confident communicator able to work with Engineering, Metrology and Supplier Quality teams.
- Automotive/motorcycle/aerospace background preferred.
