Summary: The role of Quality Engineer (Civils) involves ensuring that civil engineering works meet stringent quality standards and client specifications within a highly regulated environment. This long-term freelance position is based in Reading and requires a strong background in civil engineering inspections, along with current security clearance. The successful candidate will be responsible for documentation, inspections, lifecycle management, validation, and collaboration with project teams. This position is classified as inside IR35 due to the nature of the contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation & Procedures: Reviewing and accepting procedures and documentation in strict accordance with QC1 requirements.
- Inspections: Conducting on-site QC inspections following accepted Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Lifecycle Management: Ongoing review and final acceptance of Lifetime Records (LTRs) to ensure a seamless project handover.
- Validation: Witnessing critical tests and conducting physical on-site inspections against approved Detailed Designs.
- Collaboration: Attending key project meetings to represent the Quality function and ensure alignment across the site team.
Key Skills:
- Security Clearance: Current, live SC Clearance (or higher).
- Civils Expertise: Strong background in civil engineering inspections on major infrastructure projects.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and Detailed Designs with high accuracy.
- Site Ready: Valid CSCS card and proficiency in MS Office.
- Quality Focused: Proven experience managing QC1 requirements and LTRs within a regulated industry.

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer (Civils) to join a tier-one engineering leader on a flagship, multi-billion-pound program of national importance based in Reading. This is a long-term freelance assignment offering the chance to work within a high-integrity, secure environment where precision and documentation are paramount.
The Role
Working within a highly regulated framework, you will ensure that all civil engineering works meet stringent quality standards and client specifications. Your day-to-day will involve:
Documentation & Procedures: Reviewing and accepting procedures and documentation in strict accordance with QC1 requirements.
Inspections: Conducting on-site QC inspections following accepted Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
Lifecycle Management: Ongoing review and final acceptance of Lifetime Records (LTRs) to ensure a seamless project handover.

Essential Requirements
