Summary: The Quality Engineer role in Portsmouth involves supporting quality initiatives within a leading manufacturing environment. The position requires proactive engagement in quality concerns, continuous improvement, and the use of Six Sigma methodologies. The engineer will report to the Quality Manager and participate in various quality-related processes and audits. This is an opportunity to contribute significantly to product and process quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Quality Manager and support site-wide quality efforts
- Attend daily production Tiered Accountability meetings and take ownership of quality concerns
- Actively participate in RPS and RCCA processes
- Identify and implement Continuous Improvement opportunities
- Drive scrap reduction initiatives in line with COPQ goals
- Use Six Sigma tools and methodology to identify defect trends and reduce process variation
- Conduct 8D investigations for customer complaints and provide clear, urgent resolutions
- Lead yield improvement projects using RPS methodology
- Perform internal audits as per site schedule and participate in 3rd party audits
- Host external auditors when required
- Carry out other quality-related duties as assigned
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience
- Proven background in a Quality Engineering or similar role
- Strong knowledge of quality tools, concepts, and methodologies
- Experience with Six Sigma, RPS, RCCA, and 8D processes
- Confident in leading investigations and driving improvements across departments
- Creative problem-solver with a high degree of initiative and autonomy
