Summary: The Quality Control Inspector (Coatings) is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards and procedures in the application of coatings and surface treatments. This role involves performing inspections, monitoring personnel performance, and liaising with clients to maintain quality throughout the project. The position is based in the Glasgow region for an initial duration of 8 months, with potential for extension. The inspector must hold relevant qualifications and have experience in the coatings industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections and testing according to the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and project specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with Project Specifications and Client requirements.
  • Monitor material storage and handling, ensuring traceability and correct usage.
  • Oversee the performance of painting/blasting personnel and ensure equipment is serviceable.
  • Verify that inspection and test equipment is calibrated and personnel are knowledgeable in its use.
  • Ensure blast medium and coating materials meet project specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections and tests after curing activities.
  • Prepare daily reports on work status and progress.
  • Proactively address non-compliance issues during preparation and coating works.
  • Liaise with Client Representatives for inspections and data output.

Key Skills:

  • ICORR Level I / Level II qualification or equivalent (NACE Level 1; CWSIP Level 3).
  • Previous experience in the coatings industry, particularly in inspection regimes.
  • Construction health and safety awareness.
  • ISO9001 quality systems awareness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivation and commitment to quality.
  • Experience in construction-related roles, either site or office-based.
