Summary: The role of Quality Assurance Technician involves supporting the Quality Manager in maintaining Food Safety and Quality Systems within a global FMCG manufacturer in Harrogate. The position is a 3-month fixed-term contract with the potential for a permanent role, focusing on quality assurance tasks, particularly in the micro lab facility. Candidates should have prior QA or microbiology experience in food manufacturing and be UK residents with full working rights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Quality Manager in maintaining Food Safety & Quality Systems.
- Conduct site hygiene surveys of plant and personnel and microbiological testing in line with schedule and documented procedures.
- Sampling and plating of relevant plant-based samples and finished products.
- Perform regular Quality Assurance line-audits to ensure product quality and packaging standards.
- Maintain a clean working environment and ensure proper stock rotation of lab consumables (FIFO).
- Carry out complaint investigations and document findings within Safefood 360.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations department, taking a proactive stance in identifying potential risks and jointly addressing issues as they emerge.
- Dipping boreholes and collect technical data as required.
- Read, document, and communicate sample analysis results effectively and confidentially.
- Further QA responsibilities including equipment calibrations, stock taking & ordering, and participating in internal and external audits for Micro Lab Accreditation (LabCred), and ISO 14001.
- Participate in project-based work as required within the department.
Key Skills:
- Prior experience in Quality Assurance and/or Microbiology lab-based roles is desired.
- Degree in natural or biological sciences, or relevant qualifications in HACCP or Quality Assurance.
- Exceptional communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to promote a safety-first environment and adhere to health & safety requirements.
- Comfortable working on a shift rota and requirement to cover holidays/absence within the team.
- IT literate – able to use Microsoft and inhouse packages.
- Team player, with ability to prioritise for the benefit of the wider business.
- Driver with own transport an advantage due to visits off site to boreholes.
