Summary: The Quality Assurance Practitioner role at the Vaccine Evaluation Unit involves supporting scientific services related to vaccine evaluation and microbiological disease. The position requires overseeing laboratory equipment and maintaining the Quality Management System while ensuring compliance with various quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a biological degree and relevant laboratory experience, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively. This is a permanent, lab-based position located at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and monitor Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities.
  • Assist in maintaining UKAS accreditation and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Develop laboratory protocols and suggest improvements to policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and train junior staff and students in laboratory practices.
  • Manage equipment records, including servicing and calibration.
  • Assist with external inspections and maintain relevant SOPs.
  • Undertake ongoing training and development activities.
  • Present data at national conferences.
  • Use, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment for assays.
  • Develop new methods and implement new technology as needed.

Key Skills:
