Summary: The Quality Assurance Manager at Bilfinger UK is responsible for managing and controlling projects and quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with quality control systems to deliver high-quality products and services. The role involves conducting audits, preparing quality documentation, and liaising with project stakeholders to maintain quality performance standards. The position requires a strong background in engineering and quality assurance within regulated environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and control projects and associated quality assurance processes.
- Provide quality-related advice and guidance to the project.
- Utilize internal reporting systems to capture quality-related data.
- Conduct internal audits and produce reports on audit outcomes.
- Prepare and review Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, and supporting QA documentation.
- Liaise with Project Quality Control inspectors to ensure compliance with Hold Points/Witness Points.
- Validate the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions from audits.
- Promote a 'Right first time' approach to quality and safety.
- Monitor quality performance against agreed KPIs.
- Ensure adherence to documentation and specifications in quality operations.
- Ensure subcontractors/Suppliers conform to company and project requirements.
- Liaise with Project stakeholders regarding quality requirements and documentation.
- Communicate with Client’s QA departments for transparency.
- Encourage a Continuous Improvement philosophy.
Key Skills:
- Good Engineering and QA/QC background.
- Experience in developing project QA documentation.
- Knowledge of pipework, steelwork, and insulation (desirable).
- Experience with Quality Management Systems in regulated environments.
- Problem resolution skills and knowledge of relevant tools and techniques.
- Ability to conduct internal audits and communicate outcomes.
- Familiarity with KPIs and performance monitoring techniques.
- Understanding of ISO Management System Standards and technical specifications (desirable).
- Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Good communication and report writing skills.
- +5 years’ experience in a highly regulated industry.
- Recognised and current Internal Auditor qualification (IRCA) - Essential.

The Role: To manage and control projects and associated quality assurance processes, including the management of the audit process, whilst supporting and managing necessary quality assurance, document control and system resources required to provide effective support to the Project. To ensure that quality control systems are established, communicated, applied and remain effective to provide ‘right first time’ products and services to satisfy business and customer expectations, ensuring quality, reliability and performance standards are maintained and to support and manage necessary QA/QC resource in projects.
Key Activities:
- Responsible for the provision of Quality related advice and guidance to the Project
- To ensure full utilisation of internal reporting systems to capture all quality related data, such as audit findings, non-conformities, observations, improvement opportunities
- Responsible for conducting internal audits, in accordance with the published project audit programme, and produce reports in relation to audit outcomes.
- Prepare and review Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans and supporting QA documentation
- Responsible for liaising with Project Quality Control inspectors to provide assurance that all Hold Points/ Witness Points are met in a compliant manner.
- Responsible for validating the implementation and effectiveness of Project corrective actions resulting from any NC or internal/ external audits.
- To promote a Right first time approach to quality and Safety.
- Ensure quality performance monitoring is maintained and reviewed accordingly against agreed KPIs
- Oversee quality operations to ensure all documentation and specifications are adhered to.
- Ensure subcontractors / Suppliers conform to the company and project requirements.
- Liaise with all relevant Project stakeholders in relation to the preparation and submission of Project quality requirements and supporting documentation
- Liaise with Client’s QA departments to ensure transparency and open communication
- Actively promote and encourage a Continuous improvement philosophy.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Good Engineering and QA/QC background
- Development of project QA documentation (Quality Plans, ITPs etc) and review of supplier QA documentation.
- Pipework, steelwork and insulation knowledge –Desirable
- Demonstrable, current knowledge and experience of Quality Management Systems in a regulated environment such as construction, petrochemical, aerospace etc.
- Problem Resolution-Must have a good grasp of problem resolution tools and techniques and the ability to articulate their use in a given situation.
- Must have a full understanding on how to deliver internal audits of management systems and be able to communicate outcomes.
- Knowledge and familiarity with KPIs and performance monitoring techniques
- The ability to understand and interpret ISO Management System Standards, technical drawings and specifications is desirable.
- Computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite essential
- Good communication and report writing skills
- +5 years’ experience working in a highly regulated industry (petrochemical /Oil & Gas/Aviation, Construction)
- Recognised and current Internal Auditor qualification IRCA – Essential
- Recognised quality qualification/certification- Essential
