Summary: The Quality Assurance Inspector role focuses on providing independent quality control services and assessments related to welding and fabrication processes. The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in equipment inspections and quality control, along with specific certifications. The inspector will liaise with various stakeholders, review documentation, and maintain product registers while ensuring compliance with industry standards. This is a long-term contract position based in Reading, offering competitive pay and additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent quality control services and supply chain competency assessments.
  • Review customer requirements/specifications and prepare Quality Plans/ITPs.
  • Review and accept incoming NDE and weld procedures from sub suppliers.
  • Review and accept incoming material certificates.
  • Liaise with Inspection Bodies, Customers, and other appointed Third Parties on inspection.
  • Review and sign off completed documentation packages.
  • Maintain Product Registers.
  • Produce periodical reports as requested by the business.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external Customers.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in equipment inspections and quality control in welding and fabrication.
  • C&G Cert or Fabrication & Welding or similar level engineering qualification.
  • CSWIP 3.1/3.2 certification.
  • PCN level II MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspections) combined with either PCN level II Rad Interp (Radiographic Interpretation) or UT (Ultrasonic Testing) PCN combination.
  • SC clearance eligibility (UK Citizen who has lived and worked in the UK for the last 5 years).
  • Knowledge of ASME Code including materials, welding, and NDE techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of UK requirements for Inspection in high hazard industries.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.
  • Willingness to travel to various fabrication sites across the South West UK and beyond if required.

Detailed Description From Employer:

QA Inspector – Welding & Fabrication – Reading £38.50p/h (outside IR35) + site-based + average 48hr working week + good overtime rates (night/weekend work) + travel time paid up to 5hrs @£38.50p/h per week + nightly allowance towards accommodation + long-term contract work (min 12months & rolling)

QA Inspector responsibilities include:

  • Provide independent quality control services and supply chain competency assessments relating to equipment in manufacture, fabrication, and construction.
  • Review customer requirements/specifications and prepare Quality Plans/ITPs.
  • Review and accept incoming NDE and weld procedures from sub suppliers.
  • Review and accept incoming material certificates.
  • Liaise with Inspection Bodies, Customers and other appointed Third Parties on inspection.
  • Review and sign off completed documentation packages.
  • Maintain Product Registers.
  • Produce periodical reports as requested by the business.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external Customers.

QA Inspector profile:

  • An experienced Engineer, with min 3-5yrs in equipment inspections & quality control in welding & fabrication.
  • Must have C&G Cert / or Fabrication & welding or similar level engineering qualification.
  • Must have CSWIP 3.1/3.2
  • Must have PCN level II MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspections)combined with either PCN level II Rad Interp (Radiographic Interpretation) OR UT (Ultrasonic Testing) PCN combination
  • Must be SC clearance eligible (a UK Citizen who has lived and worked in the UK for the last 5yrs)
  • Knowledge of ASME Code including materials, welding and NDE techniques.

  • Ability to work successfully in a team, giving guidance, support and training as and when necessary.
  • Comfortable covering various fabrication sites across the South West UK and flexible to travel further afield on occasion if required.
